Mary Ann was born in 1801 based on 1860 US census. She died 18 Dec 1866 in Butte County, CA based on Butte County death records.
In the 1840 Talbot County Census, there is a Mary Grubs living near Mary Henderson - probably her mother.
Married Joseph N. Welch after Elisha died. Welsh, Joseph married Mary Ann Grubbs 13 Jul 1845, Talbot Co, GA, Harvey Hardison, MG pg 104
Went to CA with two of her sons after the Civil War. Was in Drew County, AR with her 2nd husband before that. May have had a brother named James - there was a James Henderson who witnessed several of Elisha Grubbs's land transactions.
Is in 1860 Drew County census (Ferguson Twp) as a widow, living with son, Richard C. Grubbs. Says she was 59 years old, born in NC. [s/b SC] 395 395 R. C. Grubbs 29 M Farmer Georgia Mary E. Grubbs 29 F Alabama James H. Grubbs 5 M Arkansas Mary A. Welch 59 F N. Carolina John P. More 27 M Alabama
