one thing most people did not know about her is that she used to speak Pennsylvania Dutch , which I believe is more similar to German? According to her daughter Doris, Stella once got in trouble in school for speaking it to a friend when they were on the playground, and although she did not speak it much when she was older she would sing a song she knew in it now and then .

What I personally remember about her is what a fun person she was to be around always loved to visit you could not get bored spending time with her. she loved all types of games especially board games, aggravation and parcheesi were two of her favorites. when younger I went to her house after school and we would watch Gilligan's Island (one of her favorite shows) while eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches she cut in to small bit size squares. I also remember is she made an awesome shoo fly cake , I've never been able to find or make one 1/2 as good. My brothers and sisters said she also made really good shoo fly pie.
