Clara Belle was the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Ann (Brown) Hendricks, and the sister of Jesse, Alfred, William, John, Mary, and Everett. Her father was a farmer in Boone County, Missouri. She married Nolan Sampson of Callaway County, Missouri, on April 3, 1915. Their children were Lucille (who died just before her 2nd birthday), Maxie Pearl, Forrest Elmo, Mary Pauline, Helen Ruth, Wilbur Glenn, Charles Curtis, and Harold P. Sampson.
