Biography

When William Elmore Hendricks was born on December 14, 1889, in Canton, Ohio, his father, Maurice, was 19 and his mother, Jennie, was 25. He married Hazel L Salisbury on May 15, 1909. They had two children during their marriage. He died on January 20, 1913, in Elyria, Ohio, at the age of 23, and was buried there.

During his residence in Elyria Mr [Maurice E.] Hendricks has also identified himself closely with the civic and social life of the city. He is a member of the Elyria Chamber of Commerce, and of St Andrew’s Episcopal Church. On January 3, 1890, at Elgin, he married Miss Jennie I Ellmore, daughter of William C and Elmira (Dedrich) Ellmore, both of whom are now living at South Bend, Indiana. Mr and Mrs Hendricks became the parents of two sons. Albert Ellwood Hendricks, who was born at Elgin, is a mechanical engineer and lives in Chicago, Illinois. William Ellmore Hendricks, the younger son was born in Canton, and died at the age of twenty-three in Elyria January 20, 1913. He was also a mechanical engineer, and both sons were educated in the public schools of Erie, Pennsylvania, and Elyria, Ohio. William E Hendricks at his death left a widow, whose maiden name was Miss Hazel Salisbury of Elyria, and two children, named Maurice Charles Hendricks and Maxine Eleanor Hendricks.
