Biography

Birth

1765 Somerset County, Pennsylvania

Marriage

Two of the children of Peter Hendricks/Hendrix/Henrick were married in a double wedding. On 17 July 1789, Woodford County, Kentucky, Henry Henricks married Catherine Deringer and Elizabeth Henricks married Jacob Deringer. The marriages were performed by John Taylor.

Henry's marriage must have had a few difficulties because he advertised in the Kentucky Gazette newspaper 13 April 1799: "Henry Hendricks will not be responsible for debts contracted by his wife." [1]

Property

May 1796, Ransam Langham of Fluvanna County, Virginia, acting as attorney for Elias Langham of Berkeley County, Virginia sold one hundred acres in Woodford County, Kentucky, to Henry Hendricks. The deed noted, this land had been “leased to John Dearinger for his life whereon he now lives.” The grantee in the deed, Henry Hendricks, was John’s son-in-law, the husband of his daughter Catherine. John Dearinger evidently died between the date of the Langham/Hendricks deed and 8 June 1797 when his heirs signed a quit claim deed in favor of his widow. The signers of this deed were Michael Dearinger, Andrew Dearinger, Henry Hendricks, Joseph Dearinger, and Martin Dearinger.[2][3]
