Notes

Birth: Elizabeth's obituary gives her birth date as June 11, 1839. Her gravestone says 1837 was her birth year. If she is the 13 year old girl in the 1850 Holmes Co. census, then her birth year would be abt. 183637.

Death: She died on September 27, 1914 at Center Point, Linn County, IA, at (abt.) age 77.

1850 Hardy Township, Holmes County, Ohio Census data: a 13 year old Elizabeth Hendrickson can be found living in dwelling #373, home of the John BOLING family. John Boling (b. 1788) married Elizabeth's (presumed) aunt Dorcas Hendrickson (b 1789) and they had a son William (b. 1828). Elizabeth's (presumed) mother, Hannah Barcus, died August 12, 1838 or 1839 when Elizabeth would have been 3 yrs 2 mo 1 day at most, possibly as young as 2 mo 1 day. It appears Elizabeth was raised by her aunt and uncle until she went to Iowa with her (presumed) father or other family members.

abt. 1882 - 1892 (estimated) John & Elizabeth lived for a time in Iroquois, Kingsbury County, South Dakota. John's (her husband) obituary states that he lived in "this vicinity" of Iowa since his arrival at age four, "excepting for about ten years when he was in South Dakota." Nettie Jane Cochran, while in her mid twenties, moved to South Dakota. An unknown source claims that Nettie Jane wanted to be with her parents John & Elizabeth. Supposedly the family moved there about March 1882. Nettie Jane's marriage to Carter Bailey Darland took place in Iroquois, South Dakota on January 24, 1886. Their first three children were born in Iroquois, in 1887, 1888 & 1890, the next three were born in Linn Co., Iowa in 1893, 1894 & 1898.
