Biography

Biography of John Hendrickson

John Hendrickson was born abt 1660 to Hendrick Jacobsson and his wife Gertrude at Calcon Hook. [1] In 1693 John was living with his parents on Brandywine Creek, Christiana Hundred, New Castle County, Delaware. [1]

John Hendrickson married Brita Mattson, the daughter of Peter Mattson by 1695. [2] In 1701 John acquired land near Red Clay Creek and made that his home. His will dated Oct 8, 1731 and proved 7 Nov 1745 names eight children. [1] Brita died in 1750 in Christiana Hundred, New Castle County, Delaware. [2]

John Hendrickson's will in New Castle Delaware, dated "the eight(sic) day of October, 1731", was witnessed by Charles Springer and John Hendrickson and probated on 7 November, 1745. His dear and loving wife was named as Bridgett; he named his father-in-law in describing land to a son as his 'father-in-law Anderson. He named his wife whole and sole Executrix of his estate. He bequeathed estates to his sons John and Pietter. He named daughters as : Mary, Catherine, Elizabeth, Bridgett, and Susannah. "An inventory of the goods and chattels of John Hendrickson late of Christiana Hundred in the County of New Castle Upon Delaware" is dated 5 November 1745. [3]

Research Notes

There is a Johan Hendricksson, son of Hendrick Johansson who immigrated as a minor aboard the Eagle in 1654 with his father Johan Hendricksson. But Johan the grandson was alive (though a minor) in 1676 when Hendrick died. [4]
