A private tekgraphic message received in Whangarei yesterday, carried the sad intelligence of the sudden death at Henderson (Auckland) on Wednesday night of Mr James Francis Henry.
Up to a comparatively recent date Mr Henry was a settler of Ruakaka, occupying portion of the well known Belle Vue estate formerly belonging his father, the late Mr Thomas Henry who also at one time owned the Tara property and the One Tree Hill estate near Auckland.
Mr James Henry, along with his two brothers, all of whom were born in New Zealand, was sent home to be educated. He will be well remembered as one of the older rank of cricket exponents in the Whangarei district, when that pastime was in its palmy days and a local eleven could be produced as the equal and sometimes the superior of any representative team that the city was able to raise.
The news of Mr Henry's sudden demise will be learned with sincere regret by all his numerous friends in this district. He is survived by his widow and five daughters. One of the latter is Mrs Cox, of Ruakaka, and the others are unmarried. An only son predeceased Mr Henry some four years ago. There are also left to mourn their loss one of deceased's brothers (Mr T. Henry) and two sisters (Miss Henry and Mrs Judkins).
