Robert (Bob) Henry was a railway-man for 41 one years, following in the footsteps of his father, John Henry, who worked for the New Brunswick Railway Company.
He began his career as a carman's helper at Gibson (South Devon) with the Northern and Western Railway, subsequently the Canada Eastern, Intercolonial and Canadian National Railways. He worked his way up to the rank of conductor serving on various lines from Fredericton to Saint John, Fredericton to Centerville, Fredericton to Newcastle and Fredericton to Moncton. He at one time was also President of local 654, Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen.
