Jennet was born in 1725.[1] She passed away in 1789.[2]

Last Will and Testament: On March 10, 1789, Jennet Gemmill of Hopewell Township, County of York, Pennsylvania, executed her Last Will and Testament leaving her Estate to the following heirs: son John Gemmill; son David Gemmill; daughter Ann, wife of David Wylie; son James Gemmill; grand daughter Margaret, the daughter of John Gemmill; grandson William Gemmill, the son of John Gemmill; her son John's "other children"; grand daughter Janet Wylie, the daughter of David Wylie; residue to her son Robert Gemmill. Executors Andrew Finley and son Robert Gemmill. Witnesses: Alex Turner and Allen Downing.The Will was admitted to Probate on March 25, 1789.[3]

Jennett died March 14th, 1789. "On the markers in the old Downings Gravevard are the following inscriptions:

  • In memory of William Gemmill, who departed this life Feb. 28, 1789. Aged 67 years."
  • "In memory of Jennette Gemmill who departed this life March 14th, 1789, A. D. Aged 64 years." [4]

Research Notes

Her FindAGrave page says that she was born in 1732. There is no source provided and that would mean she was only 12 years old when her first child was born.

Charles, I do not understand your comment about the son John. You created a duplicate profile for a son John.
