Biography

William was the only child of Philip Herbert KG, 5th Earl of Pembroke and 2nd Earl of Montgomery, and his first wife Penelope Naunton. He was born about 1640, possibly at Wilton House, Wiltshire. He succeeded to his father's titles and estate after his death in 1669. [1]

He died unmarried on 8 July 1674, leaving his titles to his half brothers successively. He was buried on 1 August in the Herbert family vault at Salisbury Cathedral. [2] [1]
