When Sheldon Ward died in 1845, he and Ann (Heron) Ward had 5 living children all minors under the age of 21 years. There was no will in place so Ann went to Probate Court where she was legally given responsibility for all "Goods, chattels and credits of her deceased husband". Executors of this process were her uncle, George Bond, and her brother in law, John Snider. [1]
Ann Ward born 1810, is buried in the same plot as Sheldon Ward. She is identified as, Ann James, which was the name of her second marriage. She was 63 years of age at her death Nov. 25, 1874. Also with buried with her is her second husband, Robert James, 81 years, who died April 15, 1887.
She was pre-deceased by her infant child of Ann and Sheldon Ward, named Elizabeth died 1841 also interred at Potter's Field and moved to Necropolis Cemetery, by her son William in 1869, and by her daughter Emily in 1874.
