Biography
The father of the Heron Family performers, he started out as a proprietor of a small shop in Dublin, but also sang in the chorus of the Hawkins Street Theatre in Dublin. He got his two eldest daughters spots as extras in productions when they were small girls, and the eldest one quickly became a star, thus starting the family business of performing.
The family left Ireland in 1847 because of the famine, and ended up in the USA. They moved to Canada circa 1860, after the eldest daughter married and the second and third daughters started singing opera.
