Scots Peerage refers to a marriage in 1491 during Andrew's minority and it seems correct to infer that as a minor he was younger than 21 and as a groom he was at least 14 placing his birth after 1470 but before 1491.[2]

It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Andrew by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
