Mrs. Frances (Havel) Huncovsky, the daughter of Joseph Hess and his wife Frances, was born in v Brandline, Krai Jhlava Okresidacyce Na Moravia, Czechoslovakia on December 11, 1872. After more than a months illness she died while hospitalized at the Republic County Hospital in Belleville, on January 29, 1961. At the date of her death she was 88 years, 1 month and 18 days old.
In 1878, when she was six years old, her parents emigrated to the United States from Czechoslovakia and settled on a farm near the present town of Cuba. As a child in the old country she had been baptized in the Evangelical church of Moravia. Her schooling was acquired in the rural schools of Kansas. On September 29, 1890, she was married to Albert Havel a farmer in the vicinity of Cuba. They made their home in this same place and their marriage was blessed with ten children.
Her parents preceded her in death as did her husband Albert who passed away November 4, 1932. On June 29, 1938 she was married to Frank Huncovsky of Cuba. He also preceded her in death having passed away on April 22, 1947. Added to these sorrows was the loss of four of her children while she was yet alive. They were her sons Adolph, Frank and George and her daughter the former Mrs. Tracy Svoboda. A grandson and a great-grandaughter were among those for whom she mourned.
Close relatives that survive Frances are her sister, Mrs. Tracy Havel, wife of the late W.P.R. Havel of Cuba, and six of her children, Mrs. Barbara Krob, Mrs. Frances Heina, Albert Havel, Joeseph V. Havel, Bedford Havel and Mrs. Lenora Svoboda.
Her large family which survives her also consists of 24 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She spent the latter six years of her life in a rest home in Belleville. The greater share of her life was spent in and around Cuba and she devoted it to the welfare of her family.
Funeral services were held for her at the First Presbyterian church of Cuba. They were conducted by the Rev. Amos Rundus and the Rev. Victor V. Victoria. Interment took place at the National Bohemian (Kopsa) cemetery near Cuba, Kansas.
