Biography

• "On 6/26/1844, Ellender Hiatt married Enos Hollingsworth in Jonesboro. Ellender brought with her an 80 acre farm inherited at 9 yrs of age in 1834. The farm was bordered on the North by modern day 10th Street, Douglas Street on the South, Wheeling Pike on the West then East to the Mississinewa. I had done my mothers family tree years ago and with available info. gathered showing roots to Jonesboro via Enos' enlistment papers dated 1862 with Jonesboro as his residence. In 2015, I joined American Legion Post 95 and met Ken Puckett in 2017. I had heard of him as remoldeling the Katmandu building and as I learned of his other holdings, he offered work cleaning up those properties. . At one property I found an Abstract of Title in its entirety beginning with Robert McCormick as the first entry, dated 2/18/1829 containing 128 acres. The third entry has Robert McCormick and his wife Ann, dated 5/18/1834 deeding 80 acres to siblings Ellender and Jared Hiatt. A chance meeting on a Monday night in Jonesboro led to a business opportunity and opening a dead end that was encountered 10 years prior. Enos and Ellender (Hiatt) Hollingworth thru their son, Daniel Curtis Hollingsworth, are my Great Great Grandparents. They were married in Jonesboro by Grant County Circuit court Judge, Caleb B.
