He married Mary Catherine Hales on 5 October 1869 in Twerton, Somerset. William was a butcher and the son of Charles Hibbard, also a butcher. Mary was the daughter of John Hales, a builder. [1]
William's second wife was Alice Whitick Smith. They were married in New Zealand in 1875 [2][3]
An announcement of his death appeared in The Ellesmere Guardian dated 29 April 1922 [5]
The death took place at Christchurch on Wednesday of Mr William Hibbard, who for many years was in business at Southbridge as butcher and baker. Mr Hibbard had been in ill-health for a long time.
