DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
I've seen Hissey as a family name for the line from this Hickey on back. Does anyone have documentation for the name change and evidence that it is indeed the same man, since John is so very common a given name. Also, members of the Southern Colonial Project have informed me that a middle name was quite uncommon in the pre-1700s era. Do we have any documentation for John to have a middle name?
I believe one of the John Hickeys was a John Cornelius, but I think that one was later. They usually didn't provide middle names. There were apparently several John Hickeys before the American Revolution.
Hissey could have been a misreading of a written document. My maiden name, Cruey, is transcribed as Oury on one census. Fortunately it's my grandparents on this census, so I'm sure it's them.
Hickey_Hissey is not a correct naming convention on WikiTree. Please change his Last Name at Birth to Hickey. Then put the other spellings in the Other Last Names field, separated by commas. Thanks!
