Thursday, May, 2 1907 Deaths Hickman. The death of Mr. William Hickman, an aged and highly respected citizen of Pleasant Ridge, occurred at his home Monday forenoon at 10:30,o'clock, from the diseases of old age. Mr. Hickman was born near Woodsfield, Ohio, on the 19th day of October 1822 and was therefore 84 years, 6 months and 10 days old at the time of his death. He came to Tyler county with his family in the Fall of 1870 and located on the farm on Pleasant Ridge on which he died. The farm was largely in the woods when he purchased it and by his industry he cleared away the forest and made himself a well cultivated farm and pleasant home. He was preceded in death by his wife some 15 years ago. Ten of his fifteen children survive him. They are Thomas, Isaac, David M. and Henry Hickman of Tyler county and James R. Hickman of Bellaire, Ohio, and Mesdames Margaret Thomas, Charlotte Meredith, Sarah Kirkpatrick and Nannie B. Keller and Eliza Hickman of Tyler county. 36 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren also survive him. He and Miss Elizabeth Starkey were married in Ohio, on February 4, 1846. Mrs. Hickman died in July 1892. The deceased had been a faithful and consistent member of the Protestant Methodist church for more than 30 years. The funeral took place Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock at Archer's Chapel. The services were conducted by Rev. U. G. Edgell his pastor in the Archer's Chapel and burial in the Archer's Chapel cemetery. All of his children were present at the funeral except James R. Hickman who is sick at his home in Bellaire with typhoid fever.
