Biography

Josinah was born in 1843. She was the daughter of William Hickman and Clarissa Williams . She was a poetess, Patron of the arts and her home in Muncie, IN on Wheeling Avenue was one of the Cultural Centers of the City. Josie for some years was a contributor to magazine and newspapers. She wrote essays, stories and poems. And was connected with Mrs. Bland in conducting the Ladies' Own Magazine, at Indianapolis. She was united in marriage to George Henry Koons, a prominent lawyer and Judge in Muncie, Indiana. Josie and George had four children; Maude, Clarissa, Rebecca and George. Josie passed away in 1913.
