In the first years following Royal's death in 1839,[4] Martha lived alone at Oysterbay, Queens, New York.[5] but was living with two other women by 1850.[6] Martha died on 9 September 1862 in Jericho, Long Island.[7] Her death notice was published in the New York Times three days later.[8] She was laid to rest in the Jericho Friends' Burial Grounds near her parents and beside her husband.[9]
Research Notes
Martha, and her sister Elizabeth, may have lived with the Willet Robbins family in 1860.[10]
