Biography

Grace "Gracie" Bell Hicks was born 27 January 1900 in Hopkins County, Kentucky.^{[1][2][3][4][5]} She was the daughter of James Madison "Matt" Hicks and Maggie (Dorris) Hicks.^[1] In the 1900 U.S. Census, she was recorded as Gracie B. Hicks, living in Charleston, Hopkins, Kentucky with her parents.^[1]

Gracie, age 15, was married 4 December 1915 in Hopkins County, Kentucky to Amplis Audria Sisk [shown as Amplis Audrey Sisk].^[6] She was listed on her husband's World War I Draft registration card, which was signed 5 June 1918 in Madisonville, as his nearest relative, Gracie Sisk, wife. They were living on R#3 in Providence and Amplis was working for his father. ^[7] Gracie and Amplis had four children:

In the 1930 U.S. Census, Gracie Sisk was recorded living in Nebo, Hopkins County, Kentucky with her in-laws, Harvey and Alice Sisk, husband Amplis and their four children.^[2]

She died 18 December 1983 at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville and was buried at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Madisonville, Hopkins County, Kentucky.^[3][4][5]
