A previous version of this profile claimed, citing an unsourced family tree, that Samuel was the son of James Hicks and Phebe Allyn. There is no independent evidence that this couple existed much less had children. They've been detached. See James' profile for more details.

Kern, Given that no one has been able to find independent evidence of the existence of the parents James Hicks and Phebe Allyn, I'd like to detach Samuel from them. Any objections?
Closer look... Massachusetts man married to a Virginia wife with a Maryland daughter? Virginia <-> Maryland I can see, but Massachusetts -> Virginia was rare enough to raise red flags. Can we find any evidence of Samuel's actual residency?
I also worry about his daughter's double name-- Jane Dorcas. Double names or middle names were practically non existent then (among the English). Is this a case where the research isn't certain if she was Jane or Dorcas?
Hicks-252 and Hicks-4844 appear to represent the same person because: They are the same person, the data must be revised, the birth place must be England like all his siblings
Hicks-252 and Hicks-726 do not represent the same person because: There is 14 years difference in the birth dates and the birth places are in entirely different countries. I am not satisfied they are the same person even though the parents and the siblings are the same. I have seen cases, even in my own family tree, where one child died and they gave a later one the same name. That would be the case here.
Hicks-5727 and Hicks-4844 appear to represent the same person because: birth place, spouse match. No source for either birthdate; both can be noted in merged bio pending further research.
This whole early Hicks family has been quite controversial, sadly.
I also worry about his daughter's double name-- Jane Dorcas. Double names or middle names were practically non existent then (among the English). Is this a case where the research isn't certain if she was Jane or Dorcas?
