Research Notes

Ancestry.com individual family trees list he and his siblings were the children of Nathaniel Hicks and Na Ye Hi "Nancy Elizabeth" Broom; however, the Cherokee Indian Conservation protection project refutes this information because of lack of evidence. According to Wikipedia, Ancestry members have confused information regarding Nan Ye Hi. There are three Nan Ye Hi/Na Ye Hi's. One is unrelated to Elijah Hicks, as far as this biographer knows. She is Na Ye Hi, "Nancy Ward". She is unrelated to the Nancy in this discussion. According to FindAGrave, Charles R. Hicks was married to Nan Ye Hi "Nancy" Broom, Wolf Clan. This coincides with the information on wikipedia for Charles R. Hicks. According to wikipedia, Charles R. Hicks was the son of Nan Ye Hi "Nancy" Conrad, Paint Clan. According to wikipedia, Charles R. Hicks' father was Nathan Hicks, who traded with the Cherokee. Therefore, according to wikipedia, Nathan Hicks and Nancy Conrad, Paint Clan, were the parents of Elijah "Eli" Hicks, and Charles R. Hicks was his brother. Furthermore, according to Geni, the profile created for Jacob Conrad was listed as false information, and an unreal person, because it created him to be a Cherokee, when he was not. According to wikipedia, for Charles R. Hicks, Jacob Conrad, the father of Nancy Conrad, was actually a Swiss Immigrant. For the reasons mentioned, researching more than one site, is very important in the Hicks/Conrad and Cherokee genealogy related to Elijah Hicks.

CONRAD-2693 is the profile for Nan Ye Hi Conrad, which seems to be the same person, and children listed as her children have been DNA proven siblings of Elijah through results through AncestryDNA.

Who his parents are however, at this time, appear to be unproven and unsure. His siblings however, are proven to be DNA related.
