Biography
Harold was born in 1892.
Although he is prolifically identified in online family trees as the the son of James Hicks and Charlotte Ireland, in fact he was the son of John W. and Mary Hicks.
His baptism was recorded in the Wesleyan Methodist Baptismal Register. It reads: Harold Leslie Hicks, son of John W. and Mary, born August 31, 1893, baptized February 20, 1894, in Percy Township.
Harold Lesley was born on August 30, 1892, the son of John Wesley Hicks, farmer, and Mary McCormick, of Percy Township, Northumberland County, Ontario. His birth was registered October 8, 1892.
He married Mary McGee in 1917. Their marriage record reads:
- Harold Hicks, 24, residing in Toronto, born in Hastings, bachelor, barber, son of John Hicks and Mary McCormack [sic], married
- Mary McGee, 19, residing and born in Toronto, spinster, daughter of Geo. McGee and Florence Moody,
- Witnesses: Gordon Hicks, Toronto, and Annie Hicks, Toronto,
- On May 25, 1917, at Toronto, Ontario.
