Biography

Dunes or "Dewnes" per her marriage record or as her name also appeared on parish registers of her children "Duance" was probably born by 1595 since her first known child was born about 1615. She was buried at St. Antholin, Cordwainer, London on 19 Jan 1653/54.[1]

Marriage

Richard "Perrye" of St. Mary, Abchurch, London married "Dewnes Hicks" (NB, possibly "Hicke") of this parish at St. Pancras, Soper Lane, London on 16 Oct 1615.[2] Unfortunately the only parish register entry found so far for Dewnes is her 1615 marriage record.

Children of Richard and Duance Perry found in parish registers of St. Antholin, Cordwainer, London:

  1. Ruth
  2. Peter[3]
  3. Elizabeth
  4. Susanna
  5. Nathaniel
  6. Joseph
  7. John Perry (christening not found but burial at St. Antholin on 9 Nov 1632 as son of Richard and Duance meaning he was under 18 so born likely after 1614)[4]

Her will, held in The Prerogative Court of Canterbury, dated 7 December 1653, proven 25 February 1625. In this will she mentions her son Richard, his children, Mary and Micaiah, and 4 more of his children not named. Also her son Peter and daughter Susannah. The will has been transcribed courtesy of Ann Browning on a Freespace Page for will of Dunes Perry.

Richard's will is also transcribed here.

Dunes was married to Richard Perry, 1580 - 1650, at St. Pancras, Soper Lane, London in 1615. The location of her death was St. Antholins, London. (ref her will held at Canterbury) and not Anthdins as stated. This is a clear duplicate of Dunes (Hicks) Perry, Hicks-4371.
