William Thomas was born in 1813. William Thomas Higdon ... He passed away in 1892.

William Thomas Higdon was born around 1814 in Kentucky. Census records indicate that his parents were both born in Virginia. As with many families, William Thomas actually preferred to use his middle name, and few, if any, records show his first name.

Thomas married Mary Susan Blandford, also known as just Susan about 1840.

Thomas and Susan spent their entire married life in Washington County, Kentucky. They acquired property as early as 1850, and probably earlier. Their property value was $5500 and personal property was valued at $1800 in 1870. Because of Kentucky's "neutrality" during the war, their property did not devalue as so many other southern land owners. By 1880, an older couple now, Thomas and Susan had a household servant to assist them.

I was unable to locate a military record for Thomas, but as his age during the war would have placed him at fifty something, he probably did not serve during the conflict.

Thomas died in Washington County, Kentucky Aug. 13, 1897^[2] and is buried at Saint Rose Cemetery, Springfield, Washington County,Kentucky, USA. Susan is also buried there.
