Biography

Celia was born in 1844. [1]

Cecilia is the daughter of Martin M. And Rebecca (Moler) Higgins. Cecilia married Charles Hines in Jefferson, Indiana on 28 April 1867. They had at least five children. She died of tuberculosis, and is buried at Mount Zion Nazarene Church Cemetery, Five Points, Switzerland, Indiana.[2]

Charles Hines and Miss Celia Higgins were married in Switzerland, Indiana on 28 April 1867. J. D. Griffith officiated.[3]

In 1870, the Hines family lived in Craig, Switzerland, Indiana. All members of the household were born in Indiana. The household included Charles Hines, 29, a farm laborer, with $350 in personal estate; his wife Celia, 24; their children, Clarence, 2; and Emma F., 1. NOTE: living nearby was another HINES household: Anne Hines, 24, and three children. Also, nearby was a Poor House, ran by John H. Cotton. His wife and five children lived there, as well as 18 Paupers, including three Insane; three Idiotic; and two (orphaned or abandoned) children, ages 3 and 5. These inmates ranged in age from 3 to 80.[4]

In 1880, the Hines family lived in Redding, Jackson, Indiana. All were born in Indiana, except as noted. The household included Charles Hines, 39, a farmer, whose father was born in Virginia, and whose mother was born in Kentucky; his wife, Celia, 36 (parents b. KY); their children, Clarence, 12, in school; Emma F., 10, in school; James H., 6; and Della A., 4. Also living with them was Charles’ mother, Susan Hines, 84, born in Kentucky, a boarder, (father b. VA; mother b. KY).[5]
