Mary Higgins Barron, 95, died Dec. 23, 2000, at a Mount Desert Island hospital. She was born April 30, 1905, in Bar Harbor, the daughter of J. Murray and Ida (Stover) Higgins.
She was a former member of the Unison Rebekahs of Bar Harbor.
Mary is survived by a daughter, Sylvia and her husband, A. Kenneth Potter, of Ellsworth; grandchildren, Mary Helen and her husband, Robert Davis, of Ellsworth, Carol and her husband, James DeWitt Jr., of Ellsworth, Gerry E. and her husband, John Chipman, of Birch Harbor; nine great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter E. Barron, in 1981; and a grandchild, Robbie T. Davis.
A graveside funeral service was held Dec. 27, 2000, at Woodbine Cemetery, Ellsworth, with the Rev. Darlene Springer officiating. Contributions in Mary’s memory may be made to the Mary Dow Clinic, care of Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, 50 Union St., Ellsworth 04605. Arrangements by Jordan Funeral Home, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth.
