Biography
Elizabeth Higgs was born about 1778 in the Bahama Islands. She was the daughter of Samuel Higgs and Jane Gould. Elizabeth was mentioned in the will of her father, written in 1792, which provided:
a one-third absolute part to his wife Jane Higgs, and the other two-thirds parts to be shared by children Mary, the wife of Samuel Johnson, Jeremiah Higgs, Elizabeth Higgs, Sarah Higgs, Samuel Higgs, Margaret Higgs, Ann Higgs, Jane Higgs, Charlotte Higgs and Susannah Gould Higgs.
Maternal relationship is confirmed by a triangulated group consisting of Peter Roberts GEDmatch T412069, I (Lowe) Powers GEDmatch T045225 and Elizabeth Collins GEDmatch T688604 sharing about an 8 cM segment on chromosome 4 from 113929622 to 125889460.
Elizabeth Higgs married Benjamin Saunders of "The Cove", Eleuthera, Bahamas 27 May 1797. Their children include: George "Pappy" Saunders, Joseph Higgs saunders, Thomas William Saunders, Sarah Ann Saunders and Jane Elizabeth Saunders.
