Biography

Alpheus Higgs is part of a Bahamian family.

Alpheus Higgs was born 27 February 1882 in Spanish Wells, Bahamas to Samuel Higgs and Martha Sweeting Higgs.

He married Minnie Gould, daughter of James Alexander Gould and Amelia Ann Roberts Gould, 7 March 1905, in Key West, Florida. They had children Marjorie Yvonne Higgs and James Gould Higgs

Alpheus emigrated to Florida in 1902. He was a seaman and a cigar maker.

Alpheus Higgs died 13 October 1960 at the Monroe General Hospital, Key West, Florida. He was 78 years of age.
