Franklin Higgs is part of a Bahamian family.

Biography

Franklin George "Frank" Higgs was born 30 August 1886 in Gregory Town, Eleuthera, Bahamas to Hubert George Higgs and Eliza Matilda Pyfrom Higgs.

He emigrated to Dade County, Florida in the early 1900s and appeared in the 1910 US Federal Census working as a porter in a Miami hotel. He later worked as a mariner and fireman.

Frank married Susan Beatrice Roberts, daughter of John Roberts, 8 June 1916, at the home of William Roberts at Green Turtle Cay, Abaco, Bahamas.

Frank returned to Miami and died there 4 February 1920 of influenza at 33 years of age. He was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery.

NOTE: Franklin was a school teacher like his father. He might have been from Harbour Island, Bahamas. Related by a family member.
