Lucille was born around 1895 in Florida. Her parents were Ernest Higgs and Nina Roberts. In 1900, the family was living in Key West, Monroe County, Florida.[1] By 1910, the family had moved into the household of Walter L Roberts, Lucille's maternal grandfather, in Key West, Monroe, Florida.[2]
She married Harry L Gomez on 30 Jul 1918 in Key West, Florida.[3] They had one daughter, Juanita. By 1930, Lucille was head of household and divorced. Juanita was living with her.[4] In 1935, Lucille and Juanita were still living at 702 Florida Street in Key West.[5] By 1940, Lucille and Harry had apparently remarried as he was listed as head of household and living with her and Juanita in the house on Florida Street.[6]
Lucille's daughter, Juanita, married a Deason. Juanita died giving birth to her daughter, Wilma, who also died.[7] Juanita and Wilma are buried together next to Lucille in the Key West Cemetery in Key West, Monroe County, Florida. Lucille passed away in 1964.[8][9]
Note: Lucille went by the name of Sue to her friends and neighbors.
