Janet arrived in the Colony of South Australia as an infant child in 1839 with her parents and 8 siblings, on the ship Lady Lilford. Another two siblings, Sarah and Emma were born in the Colony of South Australia. [3]
Her father joined the police force, then tried farming at Hindmarsh Island, then farmed for a few years at Cygnet River, on Kangaroo Island.

Janet Highet met and married widower, George Granger a farmer, in 1867 in Coromandel Valley, Adelaide, Colony of South Australia. SA BDM Reg. No. 70/396 [4]
GRANGER— HIGHET.—On the 8th April, at the residence of Mr. J. Hoad, District Teacher, Coromandel Valley, (Adelaide) by the Rev. James Lyall, Mr. George Granger, of the Company's Farm, Kangaroo Island, to Janet, daughter of Mr. Henry Highet, of Brighton, Adelaide, Colony of South Australia.
Janet (Highet) Granger passed away at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in Port Road, Adelaide, on 1 Dec 1880.[5]
GRANGER —On the 1st December, 1880, at Adelaide Hospital, Janet, tbe beloved wife of George Granger, farmer, of Kangaroo Island, aged 41.
She was buried in the West Terrace Cemetery Adelaide, South Australia.

Her husband George drowned in a boat accident one year later, in 1881, aged 55.
