Catherine was baptized on June 3, 1747 at Schenectady Reformed Dutch Church in Schenectady, New York.
After her husband left in the Revolutionary War (see John Young), she was taken into custody along with her children and her mother in law and held at Tice's Tavern until swapped in a prisoner exchange after probably a year in captivity.
Her brother Seth became Chief Astawenserontha of the Mohawk. As the Mohawk passed power down through the matriarchal line, had she lived long enough, Catherine would have been in a position to name her eldest son, Abraham, as Chief.
Catherine Hill died between February 14, 1792 and Feb 5, 1793, and she is probably buried in the Young Tract Burying Ground, Seneca Township, Haldimand, Ontario..
