Biography

Esther Hilliard was the daughter of William Hilliard & was born in Boston on the 25th of March, 1642, where her name is stated as Hester[1] She was baptized on 25 Jun 1655 by Peter Hobart of Hingham.[2]

Esther married at Hingham on the 9th of January, 1657/8 to Joseph Bate.[3] They had 9 children recorded variously in Hingham Town records & Hubbard's Journal. In all the primary source records for her children, where she is named, she is Hester.

In her husband's will dated 24 Apr 1706, proved 18 Jun 1707, she is named sole executrix - her name is given as Esther Bate.
