Her baptism is recorded at St. Nicholas parish on 5 Jul 1737: Susanna Hilton, daughter of John Hilton (glassman) & Susanna (ux. [his wife])(a clerical error?)[1]
She next appears in the historical record in 1742, aged 5, when she witnessed her mother’s will. Her mother died within the week, and Susanna and her brother Thomas were placed in the care of their uncle John Russell.[2] Their ordeal continued a few months later, when John Russell also died. Little is known of the rest of her childhood.
Susanna married Michael Brown on 15 November 1759 in Saint John, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Northumberland, England.[3] She followed Michael from Newcastle to London and back again over the course of his many careers, and had seven children.
Susanna was buried on 3 April 1810 in Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, England.[4]
