Queries

From ancestry.com: I am researching the Hilton family that may have originated in St Mary's Co MD. James Hilton Sr may have originated in this county before migrating to Frederick/ Montgomery Counties. James Hilton may have had the following sons: James Hilton Jr (my line), Luke Hilton, Truman Hilton, William Hilton, son in laws Levin Hays, James Talbott (who married Mary Hilton in Frederick County in 1782), and Archibald Cecill. James Hilton Jr married Priscilla Harris around 1785 and may have later married Lucy Burgess Knott (nee Offutt), a widow, in Montgomery County in 1817. from Greg Hilton
Mar. 1796 - Montgomery Co MD. Deeds of Trust. James Hilton of Rowan County, N.C., husband of Verlinder Hilton, daughter of James Hilton deceased gives John Hilton of Montgomery Co MD power of attorney to obtain ten pounds which sum he presents against the said estate (real or personal) from William Hilton and James Hilton of Montgomery Co MD. Hilton family researcher Greg Hilton in July 2008 e-mail.
Comment: This record shows 3 different James Hiltons:
--this James Hilton who is called James Hilton deceased;
--his son James Hilton who is called James Hilton of Montgomery Co MD.;
--the James Hilton called James Hilton of Rowan Co NC is believed to be his nephew, son of brother John Hilton.
