Henry Hines was born in Norfolk County, present day Portsmouth, Virginia. He later lived on Little Peters Creek in Patrick County, having purchased 519 acres in 1816. There is a family burying ground, marked by two Poplar trees.
He married Mary 'Polly' Foster Evans, 09 Feb 1805, Warren, North Carolina[1]
Mary Hines died the year after their move to Patrick County, leaving six children:

Henry then married Lucinda Carter and they had five children:
