Obituary: Martha (Patsy) Hines Johnson’s Obituary ......She died at her residence in Sevier County TN on the 12th day of February 1878.

Sister Martha Johnson aged eighty-one years and twenty-one days. Sister Johnson was born in Knox Co. TN Jan. 22nd 1797, the daughter of Wm. & Martha Hinds and was married to her Jonathan Johnson Dec. 24th 1812, moved to Sevier County with her husband in 1850, made a profession of religion and joined the church at Boyds Creek in the year 1833, and lived a consistent member of the same until her death. She was the mother of ten children, seven are yet living, three crossed the river before her, one- hundred and ten descendents of her body are known to exist at her death, and thirty one have fell asleep. Much could be written in regard to the life of this good Sister, her Christian character was exceptional, she was a good mother and an affectionate wife, her good deeds will live long when she is at rest, and the church has lost a good member, heaven has gained another soul. Her children that now morn her loss seems to be traveling in her footsteps desiring to reach that rest that she has gained. The vast number of friends that attended her funeral shows how much she was respected and loved. Sister Johnson was a sound Baptist, a lover of hospitality and many can base testimony to her acts of charity though she is now gone. This ends the life of a good woman though she will be with us her no more, we will weep not as those who have no hope believing that our loss is her eternal gain.
