John Jacob Hines was born in 1762, in Maryland, a son of Walter Thomas Hines and Araminta "Minta" Vanderford. Children of John include:

• Theodocy Hines, born 1794, in Kentucky, died after 1850, in Cedar, Missouri, married Jesse Ashcraft

• Wesley Hines, born 1796, in Kentucky, died November 28, 1858, in Far West, Caldwell county, Missouri, buried in the Hines Cemetery, married Elizabeth Davis ^[1]

• William Talbert Hines, born Mach 19, 1803, in Kentucky, died August 7, 1847, in Emigrant Crossing, Idaho (The Oregon Trail), buried in Snake River, Idaho, married Elizabeth Garrett Fulkerson

• Walter Thomas Hines, born January 30, 1810, in the Louisiana Territory (modern day Missouri) died March 21, 1881, in Walker Township, Moniteau, Missouri, buried in McGirk Cemetery, married Talitha Matilda Johnson, on June 14, 1829, in Cole county, Missouri ^[2]

• The other says that on March 9, 1795, in Frederick county, Maryland, Mary Roderick, a daughter of Ludwig Lewis Rothrock, Sr. married John Hines born in 1776 https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LHJT-5QH

Further research is necessary (and better sources) to determine the actual wife of either John Hines.
