Once when witnessing a hurried cleaning of a child's dirty face with a cold wash cloth, he said, "You know I used to hate the way my Ma would take a cold rag and just screw my face off like that. My grandmother would go to the wood stove and dip her cloth in a pan of warm water. Then she would take the soft cloth and gently wash my face."
