Biography
Thomas Hinton was born circa 1817 in Ireland.
He married 1st, Elizabeth Smith.
In 1861, Thomas, 45, born Ireland, Elizabeth, 42, Hester, 18, Mary E., 16, Jane E., 11, Eliza, 3, George, 15, William, 8 and Michal T., 4, were residing in Bathurst.
In 1871, Thomas, 54, born Ireland, Elizabeth, 53, Jane, 20, William, 18, Michael, 16 and Eliza D., 14 were residing in Bathurst. John Hinton, 52, born Nova Scotia, and his family were residing next door.
He married 2nd, 2 May 1876 in Newcastle, Northumberland Co., Jane Hubbard. The 3 May 1876 edition of the Union Advocate reported: “m. at residence of W.J. Williams, Newcastle (North. Co.) 2nd inst., by Rev. R.S. Crisp, Thomas Hinton, Bathurst (Glouc. Co.) / Jane Hubbard, Northesk.”
On 2 May 1881, Thomas, farmer, 65, Jane, 45, William, 28, Michael, 25, Anne Hobard [sic], servant, 22, Marshal A. Hobard [sic], 5 and John Smith, servant, 20 were residing in Bathurst.
He died 20 Jul 1881 in Bathurst. The Register of Deaths & Burials, St. George's Anglican Church, Bathurst, NB, 1864 – 1957 has “Thomas Hinton aged 66 years, was buried in the grave yard of St. George's Church this twenty second day of July A.D. 1881. By me W. H. Street, Rector”
