Martha Hinton was born to Thomas Hinton. She married William Reed on January 15, 1798, in Bourbon County, Kentucky. She is one of three Hintons married there between 1798 and 1799; it would be 26 years before another Hinton married there. It seems almost certain that she was their sister, as the two brothers traveled with her to Delaware County, Ohio. She may be alive in 1820, as a female between 26 and 45 is recorded, and she would have been about 45. She died around 1820 in Delaware County.
