Biography
Benjamin was the son of Benjamin Hitchcock and Abigail Ward (abt.1720-), born Oct. 11, 1760, in Woodbury, Conn[1].
He married April 6, 1785, Mary Johnson, with whom he had the following (known) children:
- Samuel Johnson HITCHCOCK, b. 4 Feb 1786
- Lowly HITCHCOCK b. 6 Aug 1787, d. 18 May 1792
- Lucy HITCHCOCK b. 23 April 1790 and d. 31 Dec 1867. She m. 3 Jan 1814 Justus Truman Calhoun, who d. 5 Oct 1848
- Della HITCHCOCK b. 9 March 1792. m. Daniel Bennett.
- Polly HITCHCOCK b. 19 Dec 1793. m. 1st, April 1814, Wheeler Newton. m. 2nd ----- Barnes.
- Patty HITCHCOCK b. 3 Dec 1795, d. 3 Nov 1880. m. 1st ,---- Clark, m. 2nd, Gerry Harrison, son of Gerry Eldridge, who changed his name to Harrison.
- Almira HITCHCOCK, b. 2 Dec 1797. Married 3 Jan 1819, Daniel G Platt, in Washington, Connecticut.
- Nabby HITCHCOCK, b. 15 Oct 1799 and d. 1872. She married Marshall Bennett on 1 April 1820.
- Sally HITCHCOCK, b. 23 Feb 1802 and d. 30 Apr 1807
- Betsey HITCHCOCK, b. 10 Aug 1804 and d. 1872. She married Silas Seelye on 7 Apr 1830.
- Benjamin Royce HITCHCOCK, b. 15 Aug 1806, and married Rachel Ann Pinter on
- Sophronia HITCHCOCK, b. 4 Oct 1808 and d. 10 July 1892. She married 1st, William Gregory, and 2nd, Daniel Vandermark of Galena, Ohio.
He died Nov. 19, 1816.
