Biography

Herbert (Bert) Benjamin Hitchcock was born on January 10, 1881. He was the son of Joseph Hitchcock and Julia Hitchcock nee Hasler He passed away May 6, 1968.

In the 1939 register Herbert (age 58), Press Reader, was the married head of household at 10 Oak Avenue, Hornchurch UD, Essex, England.[1]

Birth

Herbert Benjamin Hitchcock was born in the Camberwell registration district in 1881. His mother's maiden name was Hasler[2]

The 1881 Census shows Herbert B Hitchcock living with his brother Joseph, and that his occupation was "Coal Merchant". '(to be followed up, but I think this means Bert's father, or whoever was HoH)'

On his Death Certificate (1968) it shows Bert's occupation to be a "Printer's Proofreader, retired".

His normal address was 10 Oak Avenue, Upminster, Essex

Death & Legacy

On March 16th, 1948, Bert paid Hornchurch Urban District Council the sum of Five pounds Five Shillings (Five Guineas) for the exclusive Right to Burial in the Council's Cemetery in Upminster, Grave Space No: 814 in Block C. Certificate No: 527 (see photocopy posted under images)

Buried in the same grave are:

Edith Hitchcock (buried February 27, 1948) aged 67

Annie Amelia Hitchcock (buried April 8, 1968) aged 91

Herbert Benjamin Hitchcock (buried May 10, 1968) aged 87

Herbert (Bert) Benjamin Hitchcock passed away on May 6th, 1968 in the Olchurch Hospital, Romford, Essex. The cause of death was given as:

1a. Congestive Cardiac Failure. b. Ischaemic Heart Disease

ii. Myxodema Chronic Bronchitis

The death was certified by Dr Anthony W. Goodwin MB

The informant for the eath was H G H Bunn, his nephew, living at "Brecon" Cudham Lane, South Cudham, Kent
