Mary Jane was the daughter of Simon (Simeon) Hancock & Damaris Eldridge. She & Thomas Morehouse married in the 1860's & set up housekeeping on his fathers land. He first built the barn, where some of his children were born, then the house, which still stands on what is now Barney Hill Rd. in Bakers Mills, New York. MJ was a hard working farmers wife on a 100 acre farm. According to her grandson, Wesley Bennett, she dried & pickled fruit,took snuff, & attended the Wesleyn Methodist Church. She had 10 children (5 with black hair & 5 with red hair), & has over 2000 descendants.
