George Hitchcok, school master, on April 1, 1712 purchased from Elizabeth Roberts, widow of John, 250 acres called Hitchcock's Folly, originally called Roberts' Forest (BALR TR#A:184.
In 1724 he purchased Tracey's Park from James Tracey and in February 1736 he sold this tract to his daughter Pretiosa, wife of John Tye (B:329-330).
George Hitchcock died leaving a will dated August 23, 1747, proved November 4, 1747, naming his son-in-law John and his daughter Pretiosa Tye, as well as his grandchildren George, Elinor, and Susanna Tye. His wife Mary and John Tye were named executors. Henry Saylor, John cook and Aquila Carr witnessed the will (MWB-25164-165). An administration bond was posted November 11 1747 by John Tye. George's widow Mary having renounced (B:330).
The estate of George Hitchock was inventoried on Dec 21 1747 by Samuel Owings and John Willmott, Jr., who appraised his propert at L180.3.3. John bond and Mary Wary Walker signed as creditors, and Mary Hitchcok and Mary Tracey signed as kin. John Tye, executor, filed the inventory on Feb 13, 1747 (MINV 35:440).
