"Daniel Hite came to Shenandoah County, Virginia from Pennsylvania by 1774. His year of birth has generally been given as 1752, but recent research suggests he may have been older than that. His wife was named Appolonia. Daniel may have had brothers named Abraham Hite, Andrew Hite, and John Hite, but the relationship is not proven. Recent research by Jim Hite of Kingsport, Tennessee has provided strong circumstantial evidence that all four alleged brothers were sons of the 1737 immigrant Andreas Heyd who lived in Chester County, Pennsylvania with his wife Magdalena, but no solid documentation has yet been found. Daniel and Appolonia had eight children. Daniel died in 1827 in Shenandoah County."[1]
Daniel Hite (with a family of 8) was present in a 1785 tax list for Shenandoah County, Virginia.[2] This list by Richard Branham included Abraham Hite (8) and John Hite (1).
21 January 1807 - Daniel Hite Sr of Shenandoah County, Virginia purchased Section 6, Township 17, Range 17, in Richland Township, Fairfield County Ohio from Abraham Hite and his wife Nancy.[3] The same Abraham Hite of Shenandoah County had patented this land on 26 October 1805.[4]
