Biography

Hannah was a Friend (Quaker)

Hannah was born on 23d 7m 1773 [23 Jul 1773] in Oblong, Dutchess, New York Colony.[1] She was the daughter of David Hoag Jr. and Martha (Haviland) Hoag.[1]

On 14d 1m 1793 [14 Jan 1793], it was reported to the Oblong monthly meeting that she had married James Sherman.[2]

Hannah and James were received on certificate at the Nine Partners monthly meeting on 15d 4m 1795 [15 Apr 1795].[3]

They were received on certificate at the Queensbury monthly meeting on 25d 7m 1800 [25 Jun 1800].[4] They were accompanied by their children Joseph and Matilda.[4]

On 28d 5m 1814 [28 May 1814], the family was granted a certificate to the Farmington monthly meeting.[5] The family included children Joseph L., Matilda, Patience, Phebe, Joshua, David, James, and Shadrack.[5]

She died on 4 Apr 1844 in Lincoln, Addison, Vermont.
